Telos Programmes for 2016
In January 2007 Telos was set up to meet a growing demand for high quality training based on a whole person approach. Our seventh anniversary has provided an opportunity to look back at some of our most popular programmes and we have revised and improved some of our most popular programmes for 2016. These include:
Assessment Practice and Older People for AMHPs
Our workshops for AMHPS are particularly helpful for AMHPs whose daily practice does not bring them into contact with older people and we have worked with staff from seven local authorities as part of their refresher training programme.
TThese popular workshops focus on how through a person-centred approach to assessment and care planning we can achieve the least restrictive outcome for an older person in crisis. Our programmes include day workshops in assessment practice and dementia as well assessment practice in the context of depression and other mental disorders. Some feedback from a recent programme:

‘Good Care or Good Control’ – working with dementia for Best Interests Assessors
In this programme we explore good practice in undertaking a best interests with a dementia using a person-centered approach in the context of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Leadership Skills for Approved Mental Health Professionals
A day workshop in which we explore how using leadership and influencing skills we can develop our confidence and improve our leadership skills as Approved Mental Health Professionals.
Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
Are you responsible for refresher training on the Mental Capacity Act? This popular programme will be offered again in 2015 and provides an opportunity for staff from a wide range of settings to refresh their knowledge and skills on this important legislation. Our programmes have a particular focus on keeping you up to date with case law and recent judgements. We also provide a range of programmes for other professional groups, for example physiotherapists and dentists who need to meet the requirements of the CQC.
Working with spiritual issues
Over the last seven years Telos has acquired considerable experience in designing and delivering programmes on working with spiritual issues in mental health and dementia services. A focus on spirituality is key to a genuine focus on recovery and person-centered services. Our spirituality programmes include:
- Spirituality and Assessment Practice for AMHPs
- Spirituality and Professional Practice for staff in Adult Services
- ‘My Spiritual Home’ - a half day workshop for residential staff
- ‘The Power of Presence' – understanding and meeting spiritual needs in end of life care
Mental Health and Dementia awareness training for care staff
From our extensive experience in this area we are able to provide a range of accessible mental health and dementia awareness training courses for care staff to your specification and to fit national qualifications where appropriate. Some comments from a recent workshop:

‘Welcome Me as I Am’ - a Mental Health Awareness Programme for Faith Communities
This popular programme is aimed at raising awareness and increasing understanding and skills working with mental distress in Faith Communities.
