Understanding the Mental Capacity Act:
A Co production Model

This workshop will look at the principles and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

It will cover: Core Principles Consent, Capacity Assessment, Best Interest, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Care Planning and Advance Decisions.

We will discuss four themes, Empowerment: Supported Decision Making, Best Interest and Unwise Choice.

Using a co-production approach, the workshop will focus on the needs of each person who may lack capacity:

  • How do we ensure they are at the centre of the decision making process?
  • How do we respect their wishes and feelings?
  • How do we understand and act on their priorities?How do we work successfully with Attorneys, Deputies and family members?
